This is not primarily a course on watercolour painting, although they are of course included in the materials it covers. Several water soluble products such as coloured pencils, pastels, acrylic products and inks are discussed and selected. It is an exploration of separate and mixed media
practice, with an emphasis on what kind of water-based technique would best suit a certain subject / time-scale, or depict a mood or qualities of light and texture best.
It is not just for the “purist” painter, anyone is welcome to experiment with various methods of quick painting and longer study, whether using mixed media wet-back or other methods. It is surprising what the addition of water to a dry composition can do!
Courses have included a week long Summer School at Oxford College of Further Education, at which students get the chance to tackle Still Life, Outdoor and work with a model. This course is full of surprises whatever your experience, and accessible to all who are interested.
