MUSIC OF THE SPHERES/ PLATO GONE WRONG!

MUSIC OF THE SPHERES/ PLATO GONE WRONG!

DESCRIPTION:
This wall mosaic has been shown in several exhibitions. It was originally made in response to the BAMM exhibition: Musica, at St Paul Bow Church, Bow, London.

It is a tongue-in-cheek interpretation of Plato's vision. In the Myth of Er, sirens stand on eight spheres of the universe singing their individual notes to make the scale.(We cannot hear this continuous sound). In this version something has gone awry, and chicken-headed sirens are wreaking havoc. Traditional and more unusual materials combine using some personally developed techniques to give this piece its original quality.
MATERIALS: Hand-painted ceramic/vitreous glass/fused glass/resin/Cici tiles
SIZE: 90.5cm W x 53cm H x 4cm D
